First and foremost, I want to thank you for clearing up the difference between a casting agent and a casting director. I too did not know there was a difference and am very thankful I can now distinguish the two.
I have a few questions that may be summed up into one answer.
I recently graduated (May 2011) from college with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication, yet have found I have no desire to go into news. I want to eventually become a casting director and haven’t a clue how to go about that. I know there is likely no formula, but what are some great ways to get your foot in the door?
Secondly, what are the differences, if any, between the LA and NYC casting markets? I am closer to LA but would love to relocate to NYC.
And since I don’t have experience in casting, should I consider going back to school for anything? I have an immense knowledge and love for pop culture, but should I consider getting a Masters in anything to help in this very competitive job market?
Thank you for helping me out and I look forward to your responses.
